ISDN30 Digital Telephone Line
Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN)
If your business needs between 8 and 30 voice connections to the outside world then make no mistake, ISDN30 is what you need.
ISDN30 is supplied on a circuit bearer and offers a minimum of 8 channels (voice lines) to a maximum of 30 channels, hence its name – ISDN30. If you need more than 30 voice lines then you would require two ISDN30 circuits bearers.
ISDN30 can only be provided if a minimum of 8 channels are required, so if you require less than this, ISDN2 is the option for you.
ISDN30 channels offer a number of features but the most popular, as with ISDN2 are as follows:
- Caller ID - this will provide you with the incoming caller's number (as long as the caller is not with holding their number).
- 'DDI's - This stands for 'Direct Dial Inwards'. This allows your business to allocate different published numbers for different handset users, different groups, departments and so on. You can also allocate DDI numbers for marketing purposes. For example you may decide to publish a specific DDI number on Yell so that you can tell a caller is calling from Yell's web site - the options here can obviously be expanded to suit you. DDI's are available in multiples of 10.
- Call diversion or trunk to trunk transfer. Using ISDN2 lines connected to your phone system you can divert calls to external numbers seamlessly. I.e. a call comes into the office on channel 1 and is then routed out of the office to an external number (a mobile?) on channel 2. This is great if external staff need to be contacted or you need to reroute calls externally when the office is not manned
