Two-Way Radio Projects

Shopping Centre

Opened in October 2002, Festival Place is Hampshire’s regional shopping destination for many of us

The Brief

The centre comprises of 165 shops, 28 restaurants bars and cafes, a multi-screen cinema, sports centre, night club and 3,000 secure parking spaces. During the development of Festival Place Centre in Basingstoke, Business Communications was asked to provide a radio system to enable staff, and in the event of an emergency Hampshire Fire Brigade, to communicate throughout the 1.1 million square foot site.

The SolutionTwo-Way Radio 04

Following extensive site testing, we installed several Motorola Repeater Base Stations which were coupled together through a comprehensive antenna network.

The original system was later upgraded to the Motorola Capacity Plus Solution. This included changing the hand-held portable radios from the earlier CP040, GP340 and GP344 to DP3400 and DP4800.

The radio solution allows security, management facilities, car parking and the Fire Brigade to communicate efficiently and reliably across the site.

The system also allows the tenants of Festival Place and the surrounding Public Houses and Restaurants to be directly linked to the Control Room of the Community Repeater System.

Business Communications currently provide an on-going service in maintaining this complex radio system.
